St. Patrick’s Day is a month away, but it’s never too early to get in an Irish-themed mood.
Mo’s Irish Pub is one of the best spots to kick back, relax, and celebrate top-of-the-day delights.
I have one rule when I visit Mo’s: always order the Cheeseburger Shalaylee appetizer. This dreamy starter features plenty of ground beef and American cheese stuffed inside a crispy deep-fried wrap in what comes across as a cross between a chimichanga shell and eggroll shell. The dish tastes great alone, but the taste-meter goes up a notch when dipped in the house-made Guinness BBQ dipping sauce, or with ketchup as well.
Any tap beer on the menu washes this down smoothly.
Traditional Irish fare at Mo’s, located at Hamilton Town Center in Noblesville, is accentuated by an array of sandwiches, salads and burgers, not to mention dinner entrees. The triple grilled cheese is a nicely melted three-cheese blend with avocado, bacon and tomato on sourdough and served with oven-roasted tomato soup.
A heaping basket of Garlic Cheese Fries included a nice garlic taste with a lightly coated four-cheese sauce.
The Southwestern Shrimp Chopped Salad features a very light salsa vinaigrette with plenty of BBQ-marinated shrimp (three skewers worth) on a bed of chopped romaine, black beans, avocado, red bell pepper, diced tomatoes and crispy tortilla chips.
Mo’s Meatloaf is a sure-fire winner in large part because of the house-made Guinness mushroom gravy. Among the Irish fare, the fish and chips doesn’t disappoint as the golden brown Harp beer-battered Atlantic cod is accompanied by fries and homemade slaw.
Finish with Bailey’s Cheesecake or Mo’s Cookie (a huge, gooey, warm chocolate chip cookie) and you’re set for a month until the call of the Irish returns.
