Snow may be on the ground and chills in the air, but spring is on the way this week.
“Appalachian Spring” is among Aaron Copland’s finest work, and this will be among the showcase pieces performed by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra during “Copland & Gershwin” on Friday and Saturday and Hilbert Circle Theatre.
The adventurous piece features Conductor Jeffrey Kahane on piano. Also spotlighted are Gershwin’s Concerto in F, Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from On the Town, and Adams’ Lollapalooza.
It’s all part of the Lilly Classical Series. Friday is also Student & Teacher Appreciation night, where valid I.D.s will get students and teachers $10 tickets, with pre-concert food available.
