Ultimately, a DVD is going to come around to grab your attention, and this time it’s “Beverly Hills 90210: The Ultimate Collection.”
The CBS/Paramount boxed set is as massive as they come: 74 discs containing all 10 seasons of the original series, hours of bonus features, and even the debut season of the 2019 series “BH90210.”
Who can forget Shannen Doherty, Jennie Garth, Tori Spelling, Luke Perry, and Jason Priestley in this iconic series? Anyone alive in the 1990s can’t!
Behind-the-scenes footage and interviews highlight the special features, which also include season recaps, promos, an “Entertainment Tonight” segment, and a gag reel for “BH90210.” That 2019 series features original cast members as heightened, dramatized version of themselves for outright fun moments.
Other titles
Not to be outdone, “CSI: New York: The Complete Series” (CBS/Paramount) is a behemoth, too, at 55 discs starring Gary Sinise. All nine seasons can be found here: 197 episodes with a plethora of featurettes, audio commentaries, deleted scenes, and gag reels.
“Supernatural: The Fifteenth and Final Season” (Warner Bros. Home Entertainment) puts the exclamation point on the series with 20 epic episodes plus a bonus disc with more than two hours of special features. Chief among the highlights of bonuses is a retrospective episode and two all-new featurettes.
Cat-and-mouse games get literal with “Tom & Jerry” (Warner Bros. Home Entertainment) as the animated rivalry gets reignited as cat Tom is hired by an event planner to eliminate mouse Jerry because the mouse poses a threat to ruin an elite wedding. Blu-ray special features includes deleted scenes, featurettes, and more.
“The Alienist: Angel of Darkness A Limited Series” (Warner Bros. Home Entertainment) shines a spotlight on TNT’s psychological thriller with all eight episodes from Season 2 and bonus features. The series stars Daniel Bruhl and Luke Evans.
“Star Trek: Lower Decks: Season 1” (CBS/Paramount) is packaged in a cool limited-edition steelbook that contains the original animated comedy series’ first season along with exclusive interviews and other bonus features.
“Infinity Train: Book Two” (Warner Bros. Home Entertainment) is takes train cars to a new level as a 14-year-old athlete and Mirror Tulip (who is an escaped reflection from the mirror world) go on the run from the mirror police. This second-season DVD contains all 10 episodes plus commentaries, animatics, and an image gallery.
“Explorers: Collector’s Edition” (Shout! Select) lovingly restores the 1985 River Phoenix and Ethan Hawke movie on Blu-ray. The disc includes new interviews with Hawke, director Joe Dante, and screenwriter Eric Luke; new deleted scenes with optional commentary by Dane; new interviews with the film’s cinematographer and editor; and more.
One the the best titles in months is “Chaos Walking” (Lionsgate), a true winner of a movie starring Daisy Ridley (of “Star Wars” fame) and Tom Holland. This futuristic tale is of a planet where women have disappeared (in this case, Ridley crash-lands there) and men’s thoughts are on display despite their unacceptance of it.
