‘Inside Amy Schumer’ causes laughter, inside and out

No matter who is in the executive office, Amy Schumer keeps it light. The comedian has caught the country by storm, and now available on DVD is “Inside Amy Schumer: The Complete Series” (CBS Home Entertainment). The DVD will make you laugh “inside” and out.

All four seasons are featured on a seven-disc set for 14 hours of unparalleled entertainment of scripted vignettes, man-on-the-street interviews, stand-up comedy, and once-taboo topics. Guests stars include Tina Fey, Paul Giamatti, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zach Braff, Steve Buscemi, and Selena Gomez.

Bonus features total more than three hours, including unaired sketches and interviews, outtakes, and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

“Fear of Rain” (Lionsgate) is a thrill-a-minute flick starring Madison Iseman as Rain Burroughs, who suffers from schizophrenia. Her parents (Katherine Heigl and Harry Connick Jr.) don’t believe that the shadows and cries that Rain hears from her neighbor’s attic are signs that a secret is being concealed. So, she enlists the help of a new boy at school to help her. But is the boy real?

“The 2020 World Series Collector’s Edition: Los Angeles Dodgers” (Shout! Factory) is just what we need during this snowy February. Ah, spring is on the way. The 8-disc Blu-ray contains every unedited play of the 2020 World Series as well as two full playoff games. Viewers may choose from various play-by-play options of the national broadcast or local radio broadcasts.

“A Call to Spy” (Shout! Factory) follows female spies called to enlist for Great Britain by Winston Churchill during World War II. They work to undermine the Nazi regime in France. Spymistress Vera Atkins, later the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond franchise, was the chief recruiter for this secret army.

“Mayor” (Film Movement), from filmmaker David Osit, is a real-life political saga following Musa Hadid, the liberal Christian mayor of Ramallah, during his second term in office. What follows is an engrossing and darkly funny political portrait. Bonus features include commentary by Osit and deleted scenes.

“Softie” (Icarus Films) follows the Kenyan election run of Boniface “Softie” Mwangi, who runs a clean campaign but encounters strong political dynasties that put his family at risk.
