Basically, these basics shine in Vegas

Sometimes, you want to get back to the basics, even in Vegas.

The Rat Pack Is Back is a blast from the past and one that visitors would be wise to see in person.

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and Joey Bishop would have been hard-pressed to impersonate themselves as well as the Rat Pack Is Back impersonates them.

Vegas Rat PackRelive the days of  Las Vegas’ most famous entertainers and their live big band as they appeared live – at the time in the now-defunct Sands Hotel Copa Room. Now, the tribute group pays homage to Sinatra, Martin and company in the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino Crown Theater. Tickets include the impressive Carnival World Buffet.

This is the only Vegas based show with national touring companies.

Great music and laughs ensue when these lookalikes and sound-alikes perform. The Sinatra impersonator, especially, shines in both looks and voice. The Martin impersonator could not look any more like the famous singer and later toastmaster.

The one-liners are tremendous, including the Sinatra reference “Fly me to your room” to a female audience member during his famous solo.

Especially hilarious is a surprise guest appearance by “Marilyn Monroe,” who interacts with the audience sublimely.

All the hit songs are covered here, and it’s music to everyone’s ears, especially those who don’t mind getting back to the basics.

Up the Eiffel Tower

A second highlight in Vegas is the Eiffel Tower Experience at Paris Las Vegas Hotel anIMG_0117d Casino. At 50 stories tall, it is a half-size replica of the real Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.

Although there is never a bad time to go up to the observation deck, the evening offers more of a romantic atmosphere and is actually a better panorama of the city than the taller Stratosphere.

The view of the famous dancing fountains at the nearby Bellagio can’t be beat.

A restaurant awaits at the 11th floor, and that view is just as stunning.
