After a week of indulging in as many buffets as humanly possible in the city with the best buffets in the world, I have chosen the best in Las Vegas.
It wasn’t easy, but somebody had to do it.
And the winner is …
The Wicked Spoon at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.
Like most buffets, the Wicked Spoon separates its dozen-plus live-action cooking stations by loose themes.
Impressively, the Wicked Spoon offers a great amount of its offerings on individual bowls or plates, signifying just-out-of-the-oven freshness. The taste backed this up, including sausage gravy biscuits in individual bowls, “Angry Mac and Cheese” in individual bowls and so on.
These are chef-driven selections, executed to perfection and made with bold choices that separate them from other Vegas buffets.
Since we arrived in the morning, I first opted for the brioche French toast, which awakened my slumbering taste buds with creative vibrancy.
The paninis and pizzas (with all kinds of toppings options) were exceptional, the Wicked fried chicken divine. Fresh Italian sausage could be cut on-site.
The beef brisket with mashed potatoes provided a down-home touch, and the omelet station included the choice of egg whites. All the Chinese options were top tier.
Desserts were spot-on, as well, including croissants, chocolate croissants, 16 sorbets and gelato.
Orange screens above each food station included a flat-screen display that featured one of the selections at that station. Catchy, eclectic songs filled the air. The ambiance was very un-buffet like.
Yes, Wicked Spoon is unlike all other buffets in Vegas.
I’ll be back, Wicked Spoon. You are the chosen one.
